MECA serves as the communication hub for all emergency service and public safety agencies in Jefferson County. MECA provides services to:

  • 8 Law Enforcement Agencies
  • 16 Fire Departments – including the Pine Bluff Fire Department and 15 Volunteer Fire Departments

MECA was created January 1st, 1995, to establish a combined communications network and to better provide for the health, safety, and welfare of all the citizens of Jefferson County. MECA is governed by a Commission. The membership of the Commission is comprised of the following members:

  • Jefferson County Judge
  • Pine Bluff Mayor
  • Jefferson County Sheriff
  • Pine Bluff Police Chief
  • Pine Bluff Fire Chief
  • Office of Emergency Management Coordinator
  • 9-1-1 Administrative Board Chairman

MECA Mission

It is the mission of MECA to ensure that 911 calltakers and emergency dispatchers provide the highest level of service for the public in their time of need and that the safety of all emergency response personnel is priority. MECA will ensure callers get the help they need quickly and that they receive the most appropriate and effective response for their situation. MECA will strive to continuously improve through training, feedback, and team work accepting our responsibilities, challenges and necessary changes with a willing attitude.
